On Friday 15 May, we will be meeting at the Parky Hall at approximately 7:45am/8:00am, dressed as pirates, to take part in a special fundraising event supporting kids’ brain cancer research. Together, we will form a walking pirate ship as we make our way up to school!
P&C and school staff will be down at the hall to help guide our pirates along the path, and any parent assistance along the walk would be greatly appreciated.
Please note:
Running Club will be suspended for the morning.
The P&C will kindly be providing fruit for students afterwards.
Please bring a gold coin donation to support the Kids Cancer Project.
We are looking forward to seeing our Parky pirates come together for such an important cause!

National Simultaneous Storytime is a special event that encourages children across Australia to read and enjoy the same book together at the same time. In 2026, the chosen book is Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller, written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, and illustrated by Jake Minton. The story follows Luna Roo, a brave young kangaroo who leads her team through challenges in an exciting football match. The book shares important messages about courage, teamwork, determination, and believing in yourself. National Simultaneous Storytime helps children develop a love of reading while bringing schools, libraries, and families together to celebrate stories and literacy.
Student councillors proudly attended the ANZAC Day Ceremony Service at Chidlow, demonstrating respect and gratitude for those who served and sacrificed in times of war. They represented our school with dignity, participating in the solemn proceedings that included wreath laying, moments of silence, and the recitation of commemorative readings. Their presence highlighted the importance of young people engaging with community traditions and honouring national history. By attending the service, the councillors not only paid tribute to veterans but also strengthened their understanding of the values of courage, mateship, and remembrance that ANZAC Day embodies.
Olsen B did an amazing job in reciting the ANZAC Requiem.

Wow – we were absolutely egg-static! The students looked egg-ceptional at the Easter Hat Parade. A huge thank you to our families and students for the egg-straordinary effort that went into creating such amazing hats. The creativity was truly un-egg-pected, and the students had an egg-citing time parading their wonderful creations.
The colouring-in competition was also egg-cellent, with many beautifully coloured entries that made judging a real challenge!
A very big thank you to our generous sponsors who kindly donated an egg-stra special range of chocolates, gifts and vouchers for prizes. We also appreciate the families who donated, helping us give out such a fantastic number of prizes.
Well done, to all students who hatched a win in the hat parade, colouring-in competition and raffle – you all did a crack-ing job!

The Resilience Project – Supporting Student Wellbeing
At our school, we are committed to nurturing not only strong learners, but happy, resilient, and emotionally healthy children. To support this, we proudly implement The Resilience Project (TRP) as part of our wellbeing and learning framework.
TRP is an Australian, evidencebased wellbeing program designed to build resilience, happiness, and emotional literacy in students. It supports children to develop lifelong skills that promote positive mental health, emotional awareness, and strong relationships.
TRP is built around the GEM framework, which provides students with practical and meaningful strategies they can use at school, at home, and beyond:
Gratitude – Encouraging students to recognise and appreciate the positive aspects of their lives.
Empathy – Helping students develop understanding, kindness, and compassion for others.
Mindfulness – Teaching students to be present, selfaware, and calm in their daily lives.
Emotional Literacy – Supporting students to identify, understand, and manage their emotions in healthy ways.
Through engaging lessons, relatable stories, and ageappropriate humour, students learn how to build sustainable habits that strengthen their emotional wellbeing. The program is inclusive and accessible, helping children feel supported and understood.
Research and evaluations show that TRP:
Enhances social and emotional skills
Builds resilience and optimism
Positively supports academic engagement and outcomes
Reduces the risk of anxiety and depression in students
By teaching TRP, we are equipping our students with essential skills that help them navigate challenges, build positive relationships, and develop a strong sense of selfworth. These skills support not only success at school, but wellbeing throughout life.
We value the partnership between school and home and encourage families to engage in conversations around Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, and Emotional Literacy to support and reinforce learning beyond the classroom.

Times Table Challenge
We all know how much easier it is to remember things when they are set to music-just think about how many songs we can sing along to in the car, at karaoke, or even when we think we are alone! With this in mind, we are excited to introduce times table songs to support student learning.
Learning times tables can sometimes be challenging, however research shows that developing strong automatic recall is essential for success in mathematics. These fun and engaging songs have been designed to help students embed their times tables into long-term memory, making maths feel easier and more enjoyable.
We have included a wide range of songs covering times tables up to 12. Each times table has two versions available—one with the answers and one without—so students can practise and then test their recall.
Teachers will also be using these songs during class time to reinforce learning through repetition and enjoyment.
With regular practice using these catchy tunes, students will be well supported in working towards earning their times tables discs that are presented at assembly.
These times table songs can be accessed via the Compass App: More>School Documents>Timetables Songs
Please see the poster for more information.
A huge thank you to Mr Paulin for his outstanding organisation and the smooth running of this year’s Faction Carnival. Events like this require a great deal of planning and coordination, and we truly appreciate the time and effort that goes into making the day such a success.
Thank you also to our wonderful staff who assisted throughout the day and to the many parents and family members who came along to support the students. Your enthusiasm and encouragement created a fantastic atmosphere for everyone involved.

On Monday the 23rd of March, the Year 6 students headed off to Bickley for an action‑packed Leadership Day.
With Ms Taylor, Mr Cahill and Mrs Sturgeon cheering them on, the students spent the day canoeing across the water and working together to build their own rafts. They loved racing their classmates up and down the reservoir, splashing, laughing and giving it their all.
The excitement didn’t stop there. The vertical challenge pushed everyone to new heights—literally—as they climbed towering ropes, poles and ladders, showing courage, determination and plenty of teamwork. Throughout the day, students had countless opportunities to step up as leaders, support one another and put their collaborative skills into action.
It was a huge day filled with fun, adventure and unforgettable moments—and everyone went home happily exhausted.

Rooms 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9 were lucky enough to experience an unforgettable WestOz Wildlife incursion — and what an adventure it was! Students came face-to-face with some of Australia’s most fascinating native animals, each one showcasing its own extraordinary features, behaviours, and survival superpowers.
This hands-on encounter wasn’t just educational — it was electrifying! Students had the rare chance to get up close and personal with these incredible creatures, sparking curiosity, wonder, and a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that shares our environment. From learning how these animals live and thrive in the wild to understanding the importance of conservation, the incursion ignited enthusiasm for protecting our precious ecosystems and endangered species. It was a wild, inspiring, and truly memorable experience for all involved.
