The Resilience Project

The Resilience Project – Supporting Student Wellbeing

At our school, we are committed to nurturing not only strong learners, but happy, resilient, and emotionally healthy children. To support this, we proudly implement The Resilience Project (TRP) as part of our wellbeing and learning framework.

TRP is an Australian, evidencebased wellbeing program designed to build resilience, happiness, and emotional literacy in students. It supports children to develop lifelong skills that promote positive mental health, emotional awareness, and strong relationships.

TRP is built around the GEM framework, which provides students with practical and meaningful strategies they can use at school, at home, and beyond:

Gratitude – Encouraging students to recognise and appreciate the positive aspects of their lives.
Empathy – Helping students develop understanding, kindness, and compassion for others.
Mindfulness – Teaching students to be present, selfaware, and calm in their daily lives.
Emotional Literacy – Supporting students to identify, understand, and manage their emotions in healthy ways.

Through engaging lessons, relatable stories, and ageappropriate humour, students learn how to build sustainable habits that strengthen their emotional wellbeing. The program is inclusive and accessible, helping children feel supported and understood.

Research and evaluations show that TRP:

Enhances social and emotional skills
Builds resilience and optimism
Positively supports academic engagement and outcomes
Reduces the risk of anxiety and depression in students

By teaching TRP, we are equipping our students with essential skills that help them navigate challenges, build positive relationships, and develop a strong sense of selfworth. These skills support not only success at school, but wellbeing throughout life.

We value the partnership between school and home and encourage families to engage in conversations around Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, and Emotional Literacy to support and reinforce learning beyond the classroom.
